Yesterday, after talking about the week I spent in Linda Christensen's studio last year, I went and looked up the work I did there. It brought back so many good memories and it reminded me of some techniques that I had learned.
I have since painted over these images. I was very dissatisfied with them, one thing or the other seemed to be wrong. Plus, I wasn't sure how to take them to the next level. Now, a year later, I look at them and am amazed at how hard I was on myself. I really like these paintings and because of the work I have done this past year, I do know how I would take them to a deeper level. I wish I had them back.....
This is the mantra that Richard, one of the seniors I worked with in East Cleveland while creating the mural that would hang on the senior center, said whenever he completed a piece of artwork: "I Do Good Work!" So, as I head into my studio this morning, this is the thought I want to take with me.
